Thought the years northern Uganda had challenges of being connected to the grid ,it has been an initiative to the government to boost electrical distribution to the the fast developing communities in the northern and west Nile regions.

Uganda being the source of the Nile has been advantageous were dams that can contribute to an addition to the megwats generated from Bujagari and Isimba dams.

The new Kamapala – karuma high voltages long line with 300KV being transmited will play a big role to the load balance of the threee busy towns ie, kampala wakiso and mukono which have previuosly had challanges of loadsheiding alternatively the newly constructed Karuma- olwuyo line will play a major role in the west nile and northern uganda.

Electricity being one of dangerous utity require a 27/7 monitoring and servirence and this can be achieved at the sytations and substations using  asoftware called SCADA.

Fiber optic cables are used to connect station to stations and substations to monitor the teransmission and other parameters in realtime.
